For once, I haven’t looked twice at the weather. Yesterday found me working with the diver to remove the old jib sheet from the prop and go over the rest of the hull to ensure there was no damage. Jargo came through just fine. Today was spent putting things back in order. I cut and whipped the ends of the old sheet to use as tie downs, pulled out the extra ½ inch line I had and ran a new jib sheet. While I was sitting here in the slip I realized that the marina water line was charged and took advantage of the fresh water to give Jargo a quick scrub. We’ve been pretty well socked in with fog, but as soon as we get a break either tomorrow or Saturday I am planning on heading over to Offats Bayou. I am eager to get out of here and onto the hook.
Clearly the first day didn’t go as smooth as I might have wished, but I still accomplished the most important thing to me. I started. Truth be told, I probably need a week or more living solely on the boat’s systems without shore power and water to really get things right. It’s a transition. Not a difficult one, but one that needs to be worked out. Internet access is spotty at best and I only have five minutes left on my cell so I’ll be a little tough to reach until I can get online and reload. Testing out the Sat phone with this log.
