A buddy of mine, Oscar, gave me a hand with the lines yesterday and we took Jargo over to the travel lift to inspect the bottom. I was worried that after two years the bottom paint would be worn out and covered with marine growth. To my amazement she looked great. There was only a little bit of slime on the upper two feet and that power washed right off. We also cleaned off some significant barnacle growth on the prop which had a significant impact in the handling. She’d steady grown less responsive at lower RPMs and it was all due to a dirty prop. The last trick was replacing the sacrificial zinc anodes on the prop shaft and grudgeon and we splashed her back in the water. It was a good morning.
The coming front is a strange one. It runs more NNE/SSW than I like and they are showing up to 40+ knot winds on Wednesday. That’s just too much. I may still be able to let it blow through then ride the tail end of the norther down, but I won’t know until we get a more accurate forecast and that just takes time. Either way, if I am going at all I have to get out of this marina before this front blows all of our water out and I get stuck on the bottom again. Not sure where I am going yet, but the beautiful thing is, I can go anywhere.
