They did it!  Sam and Ginger have been neighbors right behind me for the last year and a half.  I think they have been getting their boat ready to go cruising for almost three years.  After a series of unfortunate setbacks, they cast off the lines.  Proof, it can be done.  Sam and Ginger, congratulations, fair winds and following seas.  Thanks for showing us the way out of the harbor.  I am right behind you.

Just out of college I took an interest in personal finance.  If anyone wants to get their money in order check out a book called The Wealthy Barber.  It’s a simple guide to getting your finances moving in the right direction.  I took what I learned from that and pulled enough money together to buy a small condo that had fallen into foreclosure.  It’s been a descent investment, but it’s become a weight on my shoulders as I’ve come closer to leaving.  Yesterday I got an offer on the place.  With that offer came the lasting peace knowing I can sail without a single debt, payment schedule, or responsibility waiting for me on land.

Four days until I take a road trip back home.  I am cleaning out my lockers today and giving them a  good scrubbing before I start packing them full.  After that it’s off to SAM’s and a few other places to pick up some shopping list items.  I am starting to provision.  The boat can go sailing anytime.  It’s becoming a reality.
